Randal K. Johnson

Randal Johnson is an associate attorney in the Creditor’s Rights & Bankruptcy Group and the Litigation Group. Randal’s practice primarily focuses on assisting financial institutions and business clients with creditors’ rights and lender liability issues. Randal also assists businesses in prosecuting and defending contract disputes and collection actions.

Randal obtained his law degree from Willamette University College of Law. While attending law school, Randal served as President of the Moot Court Board and worked as a law clerk in the Trial Division of the Oregon Department of Justice. Before attending law school, Randal managed a mosquito control contract for the Navy in the Florida Keys. Randal spent a large portion of his time searching for and treating mosquito habitats in remote undeveloped areas on military property. During his daily adventures, Randal would often see crocodiles. Randal is not afraid of crocodiles, and he is not afraid to get in the ring to get the best results for his clients.

Randal holds a certificate in Health Law, denoting a concentration in legal and business issues arising within and adjacent to the health care industry and the practice of medicine. Randal also dedicated his time in law school to coursework and research focusing on the intersection of law, business, money, and technology, with a special focus on cryptocurrency, decentralized autonomous organizations, and other blockchain based platforms. Randal has a special interest in cutting edge legal scholarship and is excited to help financial institutions and business clients navigate the opportunities and issues arising from the ongoing development and adoption of cryptocurrency platforms and other blockchain technologies.

Off the Job

Randal lives in Dallas, Oregon with his wife – Ashley, Siberian Husky – Anuk, and two cats – Nandor and Lazlo. Randal and Ashley spend most of their downtime exploring downtown Salem and the surrounding Willamette Valley area. Randal enjoys grilling, kayaking, hiking, and taking Anuk on long walks around Dallas. Also, Randal is an avid Mazda Miata enthusiast and would love to tell you all about them.
