Legal Assistant – Estate Planning

Our law firm is looking for an experienced legal assistant or paralegal skilled in Estate Planning, who is both a team player and self-motivated. The successful applicant will have prior legal experience with excellent typing, grammar, spelling and organization skills and the ability to communicate with co-workers and clients. Knowledge of WealthCounsel a plus. We also offer excellent benefits.

 

In this role, you will:

  • Keep cases organized and monitor calendars and deadlines.
  • Input information in document management database
  • Review and confirm case status with attorney
  • Help develop cases by maintaining contact with clients and those involved in the matter
  • Gather and review information from clients
  • Examine client financial situations and collect asset information
  • Prepare drafts of trusts, wills, or related documents, and prepare probate forms
  • Prepare estate tax returns
  • Assess creditor’s claims
  • Track status and generate necessary reports
  • File necessary documents with courts and government agencies

 

Required skills and experience:

  • At least 3 years of legal assistant or paralegal experience in Estate Planning preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of document management and timekeeping programs preferred
  • Reliable and predictable attendance and performance of the essential functions required

The Estate Planning & Probate Group specializes in preparing trusts and estate plans for individuals and families, and advising trustees and personal representatives on trust administration and probate issues. Our expertise also includes business succession and charitable planning, preparation of state and federal estate and gift tax returns and counsel on related tax matters, and specialized irrevocable trust planning.
