About Eric
As an attorney in the firm’s Business and Taxation group, Eric advises clients with businesses of all types and sizes. He often works on matters involving business entity formation and maintenance, contract review, non-profit organization and governance, purchase and sale transactions, and intellectual property matters.
Eric is a member of the Dental and Veterinary industry groups at Saalfeld Griggs. He spends much of his day advising dentists and veterinarians through the practice transition process. Whether it be helping clients buy or sell a practice, Eric understands the issues specific to these industries and enjoys helping clients reach their goals.
Eric draws on his background in non-profit management to assist non-profit organization clients of all kinds. As a musician and songwriter, Eric enjoys advising clients in the creative industries on how best to protect the art they create. Similarly, Eric also advises many of the firm’s clients on trademark and copyright matters.
Eric’s journey to law school began with a missed opportunity. Before going to law school, Eric was a full-time musician and songwriter. At one point, a well-known music licensing company requested to license and pitch one of Eric’s songs for use on television and movies. After receiving the contract, which was long and confusing, Eric got cold feet and decided not to pursue the opportunity. In hindsight (and after having a lawyer friend read it a few years later) the contract was found to be reasonable and could have been the gateway to some financial success in the music industry. Eric realized that if he had legal representation when he received the contract, he would have been better equipped to make an informed decision. Eric became a lawyer to help clients understand the legal considerations of running a business and to help them identify worthwhile opportunities.

Off the Job
Eric enjoys spending time with his wife, Jenn, and kids, Elliott and Ainsley. He still has a passion for music, though these days his songs are often about animals or eating vegetables, and are sung to an audience of two. (With mixed reviews!) Eric is also a guitar enthusiast. He and his brother hold a design patent for an acoustic guitar they designed and built.
